13 Berkshire High School students had their creative designs proudly on display at this past weekend’s 2019-2020 Umbrella Artist Gallery held at Royce Hall for Fine Arts at Lake Erie College. Their designs revolved around the Umbrella Project, which is a nonprofit children’s art initiative whose mission is to teach students that they can make a difference. Students used a theme which inspired creativity for each of their own respective umbrella designs, which proudly hung from frames upon entering the fine arts hall. Abigail Myers advanced to the Top 35 finalists and received a $1,000 scholarship offer from Lake Erie College. She joined Desirae Somrak, Hannah Fabian, Lizzy Dingman, Emily Lobdell, Andrei Somido, Jenna Fabing, Tessa Budin, Heather Papp, Julia Landrus, Mackenzie Fields, Alex Bates and Carly Snow, who each made it past the first round of judging. This is the 4th year of participating in the Umbrella Project, which is coordinated by the Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF). Special thank you to Art Teacher Amy Alvord for her guidance and leadership of our Berkshire students.
