The Berkshire Educational Foundation, the fundraising organization devoted to the Berkshire Local Schools, was the very proud and gracious recipient of a $125,000 donation from the Babcock Family from Junction Auto to support the athletic amenities of the new PreK12 facility. At a special ceremony that took place on Monday, January 20, 2020, at Junction Auto’s main campus at State Routes 44 and 322, Ed and Cliff Babcock, as well as Superintendent Stoddard, Treasurer McCaffrey and Board Members Wadsworth, Manfredi, Miller and Hipp accepted the generous donation. Superintendent Stoddard proclaimed this to be ‘a very proud day in the Berkshire Schools.’ According to the Babcock Family, Mary Ann Babcock, who was the mother of Ed and grandmother to Cliff Babcock, taught English and Literature at Burton High School, which later became Berkshire High School, for more than 30 years. In honor of Mary Ann’s passion for the District, the Babcock Family has made this donation. The performing arts stage of the new building will affectionately be renamed the “Mary Ann Babcock Stage.” On behalf of everyone in the Berkshire Schools, and the Berkshire Educational Foundation, the most profound expression of gratitude is extended to the Babcock Family for their significant donation to the future of our school district. Thank you very much!
