Over the last several weeks, Burton Elementary second graders have been showing gratitude to members of our community. This project started with reading and completing activities to go with the story Biblioburro. The story of Biblioburro is about a man who serves his community by bringing books to those in need. Teachers at Burton Elementary School posed the question to our students, “how can we serve our community during this unusual time of quarantine?” In response, students created pictures to show thanks and appreciation to those serving in our communities. Included in the students’ messages of gratitude were thanks to grocery store employees, military, utility workers, doctors and nurses. We hope our words and pictures will show those in the community how much we appreciate them and all they do so that we are able to safely learn at home. Congratulations to the creative and thoughtful lesson planning and work of our Burton Elementary 2nd grade family!
