Elec Simon Inspires Berkshire Students Through Music and Kindness

Elec Simon Assembly

Berkshire students in grades 5-12 participated in an interactive, engaging, and inspiring program delivered by Elec Simon, an award-winning speaker, and performer in the Jr./Sr. High School gym on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. The three separate assemblies were part of the Jr./Sr. High School’s recognition of World Kindness Day. Featuring a full band, a line of buckets and other instruments for students and staff to play on, and Elec’s captivating message of love, acceptance, and believing in yourself, the program used the power of music and rhythm to deliver an impactful experience for all participating members of the Berkshire Schools community. A native of Canton, OH, Elec’s passion for music brought him to New York City in 2002 where he played as a street performer before obtaining a decade-long role in the hit off-Broadway show, STOMP. After returning home to Northeast Ohio, Elec was inspired to begin his current pursuit of promoting a message of kindness through music in school settings from his past experience of losing a close friend to bullying as a child. In addition to making a positive impact on the NEO community and beyond, Elec is a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Q-Stix performance group which has provided him the opportunity to perform at several NBA All-Star games. Elec was awarded the Genius award by BMe, a nationally recognized award-winning network of community-builders in 2017 and recognized with the T.O.Y.A. (Ten Outstanding Young Americans) award. The Berkshire Local Schools would like to thank Elec Simon for providing our students an unforgettable experience that promotes kindness, respect, and making a positive impact in our world.
