Dedicated and Hard-Working Badger Lab Students Take Badger Café to V.F.W. to Honor Local Veterans

The hard-working, dedicated and thoughtful students of the Berkshire Local Schools Sparkle program took their Badger Café program on-the-road earlier this week, to pay tribute to our local veterans in celebration of Veterans Day. Using the V.F.W. on Goodwin Street, the Sparkle students truly shined in their outreach to the veterans. Serving up a wide variety of dishes, including salads, chili, sandwiches, pastries, side treats and soft drinks, our beloved Sparkle students prepared individual plates for veterans, refilled drinks, swept away rubbish when completed and expressed their gratitude to approximately one dozen veterans. “We’re grateful to the students for recognizing us,” proclaimed one veteran, whose voice crackled with emotion as he looked on. The Sparkle students are always on the move, with creative ideas such as food drives, the Badger Café and this latest act of kindness and community service. The Berkshire Local Schools thanks Ashley Brzozowski, Joe Cirino, Janice Shipman, Lori Klem and Shelly Pokorny, for encouraging our students to activities that promote leadership, character and service. Your work is amazing.
