Substitute Positions Open for Consideration by District Parents and Guardians

Berkshire parents and guardians interested helping our students learn and grow as a valued staff member at the elementary and/or high school buildings are encouraged to consider applying for a variety of substitute positions across the district. The Berkshire Local Schools is actively seeking substitutes for Certified and Classified positions. More information on these open positions and how to apply is included below. The YMCA is also looking for additional workers at Burton and Ledgemont Elementary Schools. Please review the contact info below to learn more. YMCA Before and After Care Program

The YMCA is looking for workers for their before and after school care program at Burton and Ledgemont Elementary. For more information or to apply, please contact Kimberly Wilborne, District Director Youth Development (East), at (216) 905-3687.

Substitute Teachers (Certified Position)^

As with many other area districts, we are experiencing a shortage of substitute teachers.  We have openings at Burton Elementary, Ledgemont Elementary, and Berkshire Jr./Sr. High School.  If you are interested in becoming a substitute teacher for the district, please apply through the ESC of the Western Reserve's website.  

^Certified positions require a post-secondary degree (bachelor's degree or higher) from an accredited college or university.  For more information on the Ohio Department of Education's requirements, please click here.

Berkshire currently has two (2) long-term substitute positions available for Intervention Specialists.  For more information regarding these positions, please contact Dawn Fleming at dawn.fleming@berkshireschools.org.

Classified Positions

The district is actively seeking substitutes for all classified positions.  Substitute classified positions include:

  • Educational Aides - This position requires an Educational Aide Permit with an ESEA endorsement.  Information regarding the Ohio Department of Education's Educational Aide requirements can be found here.  If you are interested in this position, please apply through the ESC of the Western Reserve's website.
  • Custodial*
  • Kitchen*
  • Lunch/Playground*
  • Secretarial*
  • Transportation Aides*
