Immunization Updates Needed for Students Entering Kindergarten, 7th and 12th Grade Beginning 2020-21 School Year

Badger logo

Vaccines to prevent the spread of once common childhood illnesses are an important part of school age wellness and are required at the start of Kindergarten, 7th and 12th grades to maximize school and community health. Maintaining wellness in the time of Covid-19 is particularly important, as we want to keep the incidence of all illnesses as low as possible.

Most primary care physicians are now setting aside special times for wellness visits and immunization. Please call yours to discuss wellness maintenance for your children. Many pharmacies will also administer vaccines, please check with them in advance.

Updates are due on the first day of school.

Kindergarten requirements are provided in the Kindergarten registration information.

Grade 7-   Tdap (Adacel, Boostrix)

                  and

                  Meningococcal (MCV4, Menactra, Menveo)

Grade 12- Meningococcal (MCV4, Menactra, Menveo)

The first or second dose must be on or after the student’s

Berkshire School Nurse Mrs. Pinkava has reviewed the available immunization records for our 2019-20 6th and 11th Grade students.

She will send an email to each student’s parent to let them know if according to these records the requirement has already been met or if further proof of the vaccinations is needed at the start of school. Please email her with any questions or concerns at kathy.pinkava@berkshireschools.org.
