On Friday, November 22nd, Mrs. Maxwell's Burton Elementary kindergarten class was visited by WKYC meteorologist Michael Esteem, to talk with the students about what he does in his profession, the weather in general and the importance of persons in his role when it comes to weather safety. Mr. Esteem demonstrated charisma and a clear passion for his work. He shared with students things to avoid during certain types of weather circumstances and talked to them about tornado safety. His visit was timely and impactful since the segment of his program directly related to the Project Based Learning the students are finishing explored the question: Why are safety drills important at both home and school and how should they be conducted? Mr. Esteem shared an age-appropriate slideshow and patiently answered questions from our five and six-year-old students. His expertise was greatly appreciated and a wonderful way to end our week. Thank you, Mr. Esteem, for visiting us at Burton Elementary School.
