The Berkshire Local Schools would like to express its gratitude to the team at Great Lakes Cheese who raised a generous $1,800 through a penny drive that will go to benefit our District’s Project SALES initiative. Project SALES, which stands for Service and Leadership Experiences for Students, is an experiential learning model engaging students in service learning at a high level that allows them to explore local issues that impact them and their community, as well as how these issues are reflected in the larger context of our nation or globally. Project SALES promotes deep learning, teamwork, communications, civic engagement, and challenges students through authentic assessments with clear, measurable outcomes to be achieved. Students participate and collaborate as members of project, work, and program teams to accomplish common goals. In a recent correspondence with Great Lakes Cheese, Ms. Alison Bolet Cafaro, Manager of Diversity and Inclusion, “[thanked] all of the hard work in the Berkshire school district for allowing [Great Lakes Cheese] to partner with the district.” According to Berkshire’s Graduate Profile, students who graduate from the District will be equipped with the skills to ask complex, real-world questions and begin tasks with the end-goal in mind among other career-ready skills. The opportunities provided by the funds raised by Great Lakes Cheese will help to reinforce these important pillars. On behalf of the Berkshire Local Schools, thank you to Great Lakes Cheese, for your generosity. Go Badgers!
