Dear Burton Elementary Families,                                         


I hope that you had a great summer and enjoyed some time in the sun and warm weather with your family and friends! We are excited to begin the new 2018-2019 school year! As always, we are energized and anxious to see your family!  Please read through a few reminders and items that will help you plan for the upcoming year. Our first day of school is on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018.  OPEN HOUSE WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2018 from 5:00 pm -6:00 pm. You can come and meet your teacher and walk through the building. We hope to see you there!  


I will be taking a maternity leave when we begin the school year! I will be here to start the year and see the students, staff and families. We are so excited to be welcoming a baby girl in September. Joy Reed (Title 1 teacher) will be my replacement for me while I am out, and then I will be back in action here at Burton Elementary later in the year! Thank you for all of your support and well wishes for our family as we welcome Baby Girl Randles!



8:35 am-         Doors open for students

8:45 am-    Tardy Bell Rings (For the safety and security of your child, we begin taking classroom attendance as soon as the bell rings.)



3:15 pm-     Pick-ups, walkers, daycare students are dismissed from classrooms

3:20 pm-     Bus Riders are called over the PA system and dismissed from classrooms


2018-2019 SCHOOL THURSDAY DISMISSAL SCHEDULE:     (EVERY THURSDAY starting August 23rd -end of the year)

2:30 pm-        Pick-ups, walkers and Daycare are dismissed from the classrooms

2:35 pm-        Bus Riders are called to the PA system and dismissed from classrooms


Burton Elementary School will continue to follow the Professional Learning Community schedule for the 2018-2019 school year.  We will hold weekly early dismissals every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. beginning August 23rd throughout the school year.  Please note that bus routes will pick up students from Burton Elementary School every Thursday at 2:30 p.m.  If you are picking up your child in the gym, please arrive by 2:30 p.m. Thank you!


We will attend school on August 23rd, 24th, 27th and 28th. We will then be on break from Wednesday, August 29th, August 310th, August 31st and September 3rd (Labor Day).  School will resume on Tuesday, September 4th for everyone!



Please make sure payment is sent to the office by September 28th, 2018. Checks can be made payable to the Berkshire Board of Education. Fees can also be paid through the Infinite Campus Portal. We are looking forward to seeing you back at Burton Elementary! As always, our main goal each and every day is that your child is happy and safe. We will continue to work on GRIT, Growth Mindset and work ethic! We have wonderful kids, families, staff members and community members in the Berkshire Schools.
