Burton Elementary Wins Gold Recognition Award from State of Ohio for Positive Behavior pbis

The Berkshire Local Schools extends its congratulations to everyone at Burton Elementary, who was recently informed that the building will receive the Gold Recognition Award for 2019 for their Positive Behavior Interventions and Support, (P.B.I.S.).

Ledgemont Elementary School was home to a weeklong display of positive and pride-filled activities as students participated in the yearly Spirit Week celebration.

The Berkshire Local Schools would like to express its gratitude to the team at Great Lakes Cheese who raised a generous $1,800 through a penny drive that will go to benefit our District’s Project SALES initiative. 

Two Berkshire Grads Earn Ohio Seal of Biliteracy Seal

Berkshire Local School District is pleased to announce that two 2019 seniors, Josiah Cheung and Diego Peters, received the Ohio Seal of Biliteracy. The Ohio Seal of Biliteracy program was initiated in the 2018-2019 school year by the state and is now one of 36 states to offer the seal of biliteracy. The Ohio Seal of Biliteracy recognizes graduating seniors that demonstrate high levels of proficiency in English and at least one other language. Josiah and Diego accomplished this level in English and Spanish. 

Info for Homecoming 2019 homecoming dance

The 2019 Berkshire Homecoming game is scheduled for Friday, September 27 with the parade commencing at 6:15 pm and the game at 7 pm.  Crowning of the 2019 Homecoming King and Queen takes place at halftime.  The dance is on Saturday, September 28 from 7:45 until 11 pm.  

BHS Juniors Are Selling Corn Maze Tickets corn maze

Feel the fall spirit and help the junior class raise money for prom! Berkshire's juniors are selling tickets for Derthick's Corn Maze in Mantua, Ohio.  This fundraiser is pre-sale only and the $10 tickets are available at the high school from Mrs. Beitzel-Rowe in room 111.  

Public Comment Sought on Federal Funds for 2019-2020 School Year

The Berkshire Local School District receives funds annually from the federal government to provide various educational services. District administrators invite comments from the public regarding these services at a meeting to be held on Monday, December 2nd at 8:30 a.m. at the Berkshire Board of Education Office, 14259 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton, Ohio.

If you cannot attend the meeting and would like to provide input, please contact the Director of Pupil Services office at (440) 834-3380 .

Berkshire is Host to Area’s Largest Boys and Girls Cross Country Meets This Past Weekend cross country

The Berkshire Local Schools played host for the Berkshire Early Bird Invitational this past weekend for boys’ and girls’ cross country, where nearly 1,300 middle school and high school students gathered at the Geauga County Fairgrounds for this interscholastic competition. 

Congratulations to junior Gennah Brown brown

Congratulations to junior Gennah Brown on her most recent literary accomplishment.  Brown’s poem, “Power of i”, has been published in The Tipton Poetry Journal, Issue 41The Tipton Poetry Journal publishes quality poetry from around the world.  Issue 41 features 48 poets from The United States and 6 poets from Canada, India, Russia, South Korea and Ukraine.  Most poets published in this edition are established and previously published writers; Brown is one of only a few young poets published.
