Hello Burton Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2010 – 2011 school year! We are excited to begin another successful school year!  Please join us on Monday, August 23 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Burton Elementary School.  Teachers will be available, class lists will be posted and classrooms will be open to view.  The PTO will have Badger Wear Items, Yearbooks and Fall Fundraiser Samples.  PTO will provide hot dogs and condiments.  Please bring the following requested item based on the first letter of your last name:
A-F: Juice Boxes/Water/Soda
G-M: Dessert
N-Z: Appetizers

News from Burton Elementary School…
 2009-2010 Office Staff and Important Numbers:  
All secretaries and  Mrs. Ducca will be housed in the main office and Miss Burzanko will continued to be housed in the 4th – 6th grade building.  We can all be reached by calling 834-3380 X 1101.    

 3rd Grade Fall OAA Reading Test:
3rd graders will take the OAA Fall Reading test the week of November 4th.  More details will follow!

 

Burton Elementary PTO News…

2010/2011 PTO BOARD: Congratulations to the new PTO board for the 2010/2011 school year: Barb Lillibridge - President, Ali Miller - Vice-President, Jackie Peters - Secretary and Shelley McDermott - Treasurer. A special thank you goes to Kim Brown for her service on the board. She will be missed.
BACK TO SCHOOL PICNIC AND OPEN HOUSE- August 23, 2010   - 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm - Start the year with a bang. Come to the End of the School Year Picnic. Please bring an item to pass based on the beginning letter of your last name. Hot dogs will be served. Hope to see you there!

Burton Elementary News…

BREAKFAST PROGRAM AT B.E.
Our school breakfast program provides ¼ of your child’s nutritional needs and meets Dietary Guideline recommendations.  Our school breakfast program is available to all students K-6, Monday through Friday mornings from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. in the cafeteria.  You do not have to register in advance – you can simply show up any morning and take advantage of our breakfast program.  Students who walk and get dropped off can enter the gym doors for breakfast beginning at 8:30 a.m. and as students arrive on the bus they can go to the cafeteria and take advantage of breakfast as well.  Breakfast costs $1.75 and a reduced breakfast cost of $0.30 is available for those who qualify.  Breakfast will consist of a main item, fruit and milk.  

 PLC District Meetings:  
Burton Elementary School will join Berkshire High School in implementing weekly early release Thursdays for district Professional Development Meetings (PLC’s). Implementing and sustaining a professional learning community requires determination, dedication and diligence.  During these Professional Learning Community Meetings will we concentrate on instruction, analyze assessments and work together to ensure that all students are being provided a quality education.  We believe that this commitment is vital for the growth of our students.  As I stated in June, beginning THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 – Burton Elementary will dismiss at 2:30 p.m. so that our staff can participate in Professional Learning Community Meetings.  If your child is a pick-up, a walker or rides the bus home, they will all dismiss from B.E. at 2:30 p.m.

2010 – 2011 Class Fees: Class Fees will remain unchanged for the 2010 – 2011 school year. Please pay school fees by the end of September.

2010 – 2011 Staff Changes:  We welcome Mrs. Jamie Bower as our tutor for the 2010 – 2011 school year!
