School Nurse Update 2-5-10

Gastrointestinal viruses continue to cause misery in the Berkshire community. We have had some cases of strep and pinkeye diagnosed in students in both schools. The biggest change seems to be an increase in upper respiratory infections ("URI" or the common cold) and in sinus infections. I have not heard of influenza having been diagnosed lately. The flu officially remains in the "sporadic" classification in Ohio. It is not currently widespread anywhere in the USA. Let's hope it stays that way!
