Berkshire's NHS Organizes Donation Drive for Haitian Relief

On January 12th a 7.0 earthquake struck Port-a-Prince Haiti, leaving 90% of the capital city damaged or destroyed and more than 200,000 dead. While we all feel sorrow for the dead, it is those left behind who need our help the most. Sixteen days after the devastating earthquake hundreds of thousands of Haitian remain homeless, injured or hungry.
However, the American Red Cross is working to help by providing meals for up to 1 million people, clean drinking water to 100,000 people per day and blankets and tents for those left homeless. Therefore, the Berkshire chapter of the National Honor Society will be collecting donations to be sent to the American Red Cross’s Haiti Relief Effort.
Starting next Monday, February 1st donations will be taken during students first period classes. The collection will run Monday, February 1st through Friday, February 5th. At the end of the week the class that donates the most will be treated to donuts and juice from Mr. Reedy. Students who do not have a first period class should see Ms. Prots to donate.
Any questions should be directed to Ms. Prots, National Honor Society Advisor
