Happy New Year! I hope 2009 came in with a bang for you and your family! We were so happy to see all of the kids back at school, we missed them all!
Now that we are back to school we are gearing up for several upcoming events such as Ohio Achievement Testing, the District Spelling Bee, 5th & 6th Grade Science Fair and Roots & Shoots Relay for Life - just to name a few.
We will begin to use our A+ software to prepare for our upcoming OAT Tests in Social Studies and Math. We will utilize the Success Web site from the Ohio Department of Education to prepare as well. You can access copies of practice tests for grades 3-6 in all subject areas. The web site also offers tips for test taking strategies and tips. The Ohio Department of Education web address is: www.ode.state.oh.us.
The 4-8 graders will be participating in the district Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Mr. Itschner organizes the event.
Mrs. Vinecourt's 5th and 6th grade science students are working on their Science Fair projects. She has just sent home the outline for projects and requirements, feel free to e-mail her with questions at: be_vinecourt@lgca.org.
Mrs. Maxwell and Roots & Shoots members are hosting a Relay for Life Pajama Day Fundraiser next Thursday, January 22, 2009. Kids who pay $1.00 by Wednesday, January 21, 2009, can wear pajamas to school on Thursday, January 22, 2009. Please join the fun and support Relay for Life!
