District: Curriculum and Instruction

Berkshire More Than Doubles State Average

73% of tenth graders pass all five tests!

By Ruth Friedman

July 07, 2008

In March of 2008 our tenth graders took the Ohio graduation tests that are required to be able to graduate from high school in Ohio. We are pleased to report that 73% of them passed all five tests on the first try. This compares to a state average of 30%.

In a district the size of Berkshire the performance of each student is important as all of these reports are based on percentages. That is why we continue to focus on each student and are doing an all district professional development activity on effective instructional strategies this upcoming school year.

We remind parents to keep students reading this summer and devote some time each week to some sort of academic activity. This keeps the mind tuned up and ready to go when September rolls around.
