On Saturday, May 17, Berkshire Fifth and Sixth Grade teams
participated in the annual Math Problem Solving Tournament
sponsored by the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of
Mathematics. The tournament was held at James A. Garfield
Elementary School in Garrettsville. Six teams from Burton
Elementary and four teams from Troy Elementary participated in four
categories of problem solving exercises, including: "Pile of Ten",
"Mental Math", "Construction", and "Mental Math". The teams
practiced prior to the tournament under the guidance of their Math
teachers, Janet Duns and Amy Burzanko. The forty problem solvers
returned home bearing the many ribbons and trophies earned in the
team sessions. Congratulations to all!
