Mrs. Kehoe reading cat stories to students

Guest Reader Entertains Mrs. Maxwell's Kindergarten

by Mary Jo Maxwell

May 16, 2008

Mrs. Marty Kehoe, a parent in Mrs. Maxwell's kindergarten class, recently came in to read to the kindergarten students.  She shared two stories about kittens, which the children loved.  The first, The Stray Kitten by Judy Waite and Gavin Rowe, was a story about a kitten who has no home.  He must learn to fend for himself in the rough and tumble streets of the city.  After a long journey, he finally finds a boy who loves him and welcomes him into the family.

The second story Mrs. Kehoe read was Mrs. McTats and Her Houseful of Cats, by Alyssa Satin Capucilli.  This story was a fun rhyming story about a woman who loved cats and adopted all the strays she encountered.  Each one was named alphabetically, under they got to Z.  The Z animal ended up being a puppy named Zoom, who lived happily with Mrs. McTats and 25 cats!
