Third Quarter Awards Assembly

by Mary Jo Maxwell

May 16, 2008

After a slight delay due to OAT testing, Burton Campus students were recently honored for their outstanding academic achievement for the third quarter.  All the students in the school met for the assembly on May 13th.  A variety of awards were handed out.  Two third graders received the Kiawanis Third Grade Outstanding Student Award.  These winners were chosen by each third grade teacher based on citizenship, effort, and enthusiasm for learning.

Merit Award Winners were determined based on a 3.0-3.4 grade point average.  Students in grades three - six are eligible for this award.  Honor Roll recipients are those students that receive a 3.5-4.0 grade point average for the quarter.  Mrs. Ducca impressed upon the students how proud she was of each child, especially those who continue to strive to reach these goals without becoming discouraged.

The final award handed out was the Principal's Award.  This award is given to a student from each class, grades kindergarten -sixth.  Mrs. Ducca chooses a student she sees as having been an example of the Badger Five.  The choice is then discussed with the student's teacher, to make sure this exemplary behavior is carried over into the classroom.  These students demonstrate good character, enthusiasm, compassion to others, and the determination to succeed!

Congratulations to all award winners.  Remember - there is one quarter left to go!
