Who are You Inviting?

May marks the beginning of an important month for our high school juniors and seniors. On May 3rd the Prom and After Prom will occur. These are always two fun events. The month will conclude with graduation on May 31st at 6:00PM in the HS Gym. In between there will be many good byes and many parties that will continue into the summer. Unfortunately, alcohol will be an unwelcome guest at some of these parties, and sometimes that alcohol will be provided by adults who are hosting the party. Here is a reminder of what all parents should know:
- As a parent, you cannot give alcohol to your teen's friends under the age of 21 UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, even in your own home, even with their parent's permission.
- You cannot knowingly allow a person under the age of 21, other than your own child, to remain in your home or on your property while consuming or possessing alcohol.
If you break the law:
- You can face a maximum sentence of six months in jail and/or a $1000 fine.
- Others can sue you if you give alcohol to anyone under 21, and they in turn, hurt someone, hurt themselves,or damage property.
- Officers can take any alcohol, money or property used in committing the offense.
Let's all resolve to have a happy and safe end of the year.
