Upcoming Events for the Closing of the 2007-2008 School Year

        The last few months of school are always hectic and packed with tons of important dates. This year is no different.

        As the end of April is quickly advancing, many school meetings and functions are being held. On April 28th, the senior class will have a meeting during second period. From April 28th to May 2nd, the eighth grade will be OAT testing. Finally, on April 30th, Interims are due.

      The calendar for May is even more eventful. Prom starts off the first week of May on May 3rd, followed by After Prom on May 4th.

        The 7th grade TPP Assembly will be held on May 5th during last period. During the evening of May 5th, there will also be a Board of Education meeting. On May 6th, the Spanish Honor Society will be holding its induction ceremony for new members. Berkshire’s annual talent show will be held on May 9th at 7:00 p.m. The next day, May 10th, is the Relay for Life marathon at Cardinal High School, signifying the end of the second busy week of May.

    The third week of May opens with the second semester sociology students presenting senior service projects on May 12, followed by an assembly for grades 7 through 9. That evening will also be the junior high’s band concert. May 13th is the set date for the AP Chemistry Exam that will take place in the library. In the evening of May 13th is an SPTO meeting. During the day on May 14th, class meetings for class officer speeches will be held and the final senior service projects will be presented. A Department of Chair meeting will be held after school on May 14th, followed by senior awards at 7:00 p.m. During Activity Period on May 15th, students will be voting for class officers. Later in the school day, junior high awards will be presented and seniors will receive their caps and gowns. At 6:00 p.m. that evening, the annual fashion show will also be held. May 16 is the set date for the grades 9 through 11 awards ceremony.

     The final week of May is extremely busy. On May 19th, a faculty meeting will be held. At 7:30 p.m., the high school band and jazz band concert will be held prior to band awards. May 20th through the 23rd are the 6th grade camp dates. On May 21st is the French National Honor Society induction and ceremony. May 22nd is the proposed date for the senior locker cleanout as well as Interact Club elections. At 7:30 p.m. that night, are the choral concerts for grades 8 through 12. May 26 is Memorial Day. May 27 is the date for senior exams. Senior make up exams are May 28th. If there is a senior class trip, it will be held May 29th, the day before the last day for seniors. The senior breakfast is the morning of May 30th before graduation practice. Graduation is set for May 31st at 6:00 p.m.

            The June calendar, although encompassing only 10 days for the school year, is also very hectic. June 2 is a Board of Education meeting, 6th grade promotion, and the new Student Orientation. June 4th is locker cleanout for the rest of the school. Exams for grades 7 through 11 are June 5th, 6th, and 7th. Make up exams are after the last exam on June 7th. The last day of school for the Berkshire School District is June 10th.
