Spaghetti Dinner a Success

Relay for Life and the After Prom Committee team up for a spaghetti dinner fundraiser

April 29, 2008

On Friday, April 18, Berkshire’s Relay for Life team continued its fundraising for the May event with a spaghetti dinner organized with the After Prom Committee. The spaghetti was bought from Joel’s, but prepared here at Berkshire and served by both Relay for Life and After Prom Committee volunteers. The volunteers also served garlic bread donated by Mangia Mangia. After enjoying the delicious dinner, guests could purchase tickets for a Chinese Auction.  The various baskets at this auction included a movie basket, toy baskets, chocolate and candy baskets, and others, including baskets donated from White House Chocolates and Avon.  The fundraiser was able to raise $608, and the profits will be split between Relay for Life and the After Prom Committee.

Berkshire Relay for Life team captain, Miranda Carver, was responsible for much of the organizing of the event. She said, “I think the spaghetti dinner was a success, but I was expecting to make more of a profit.” Senior Kim Petersen, who attended the spaghetti dinner said, “I thought the spaghetti was really good, and the Chinese auction had a good selection of baskets.”

As the Relay for Life event at Cardinal High School draws nearer, Berkshire’s team will be finishing up with fundraising. They will be having one last fundraiser right before the event, and that will be a cake raffle during lunch periods at the high school. They will also be doing a fundraiser at the event, but plans for what will be done are still underway.
