Mrs. Johnson Reads to Kindergarten
by Mary Jo Maxwell
April 18, 2008
Mrs. Kathy Johnson, a former Burton Elementary teacher, made a visit to Mrs. Maxwell's class today. Mrs. Johnson, who taught at BE for 35 years, has a granddaughter in Mrs. Maxwell's class.
Each week, a different student in Mrs. Maxwell's class is highlighted as the Star of the Week. Each student creates a poster of pictures to place on the bulletin board. The students tell about their pictures on Monday. Each day of the week the students are allowed to bring in something to share with the class. The students are allowed to questions about the shared item. Katelyn also chose to make a snack (cookies!) to share with the class.
Some students also bring in a guest to read to the class. Katelyn's grandma, Mrs. Johnson, happily read to the class of 25 students. The students enjoyed the Story of Ping and Rikki Tikki Tembo. Thanks Mrs. Johnson!
