Softball at our school has been booming with success for some time now. Under the coaching of David List and Kelly Mathews, these girls have been putting a lot of heart into this game, and they are happy with the end result. This year the team is led by four hard working and dedicated seniors: Cindy Clark, Nicole Merickel, Britney Reynolds, and Michelle Meyers. They hope to continue the success of the past years. In 2005, the girls won CVC champions and they were also District champs. The same has gone the years since.
Nicole Merickel is one senior with high hopes for the season. She has been on softball teams since kindergarten and has helped contribute to the badgers’ success. Merickel plays third base for the team; she is hoping her team comes together this season to pull another great year. Also, Merickel wants to win districts again and go on to regionals. Merickel does plan to attend Kent State University in the fall but unfortunately does not plan on planning softball because of her heavy work load and busy schedule.
Michelle Meyers is another valuable player for the badgers. She is the first baseman, short stop, and an outfielder. That’s a hard load to carry but it looks like she can handle it out on the diamond. She has been playing of a number of years. Meyers does plan to play at a college in Florida.
Cindy Clark is an outstanding player. This is only her second year being on the team for the school but she has contributed to the team’s success. Even though, she is only keeping score this season, Clark is always one hundred percent behind her team.
Last but not least is the fourth senior on the team, Britney Reynolds. She has been playing on the team since freshman year and has contributed to every single one of the CVC titles this team holds. Out of school she plays for the thunder elite softball team. Softball is a big part of Reynolds’ life. She has been playing for over six years and hopes to make the team in the college she attends. She is unsure of the college she wants to go to. Reynolds wants her team to exceed to the regional tournament and place in state. At the rate they are going, the girls are sure to meet that goal.
