Burton Elementary Lockdown Follow Up
Incident Handled Well by BE Staff
March 21, 2008
In a follow up conversation on Thursday, March 20. with the Burton Police about this week's lock down the chief indicated that initial reports of the youth suspect had a gun proved not to be true after subsequent investigation. He further indicated that the officers who responded thought that BE principal Cindy Ducca and the staff handled things very well.
As in all these fast breaking situations initial reports sometimes prove not to be accurate, but when the safety of staff and students is at stake we will take all available measures to keep them safe.
Another question that came to me was why the HS was not locked down and the Chief responded that they had the incident contained in the BE vicinity and did not need to lock down the HS.
