FYI...REGISTRATION WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 10 AND WEDENSDAY, APRIL 16 FROM 4:00 - 7:00 AT BURTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!
Monday, May 19th: Kindergarten Spring Screening:
We will hold a kindergarten Academic Spring Screening at the Berkshire Board of Education Office on Monday, May 19th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Screening sign up times will be available during Kindergarten Registration on April 10 and April 16 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Burton Elementary School.
Wednesday, August 27th: Kindergarten Open House & Parent Meeting:
We will kick off Kindergarten Orientation on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. We will hold a Kindergarten Open House from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. You and your child are welcome to visit the classroom and meet your teacher! Later that evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Burton Campus gymnasium, we will hold a parent only meeting. We will begin with a few brief remarks from Mrs. Ducca and then you will be dismissed to your child’s classroom to attend an orientation meeting with their teacher.
First Week of School Fall Phase-In Schedule:
This is a new addition to our phenomenal kindergarten program. We are very excited about this Phase-In Model. Phase-In allows the children to come in two small groups and receive a comprehensive kindergarten “orientation”. It is a cutting edge program that is done in several districts around the state. We know that by allowing kids to come in smaller groups, we are able to ease the transition to full day, every day kindergarten. We appreciate your cooperation and support in advance. Once again, detailed information regarding this program will come in a letter from your teacher the first week in August.
Tuesday, September 2nd – Thursday, September 4th: Children will attend in small groups only ONE of these days. The groups will be assigned by teachers and you will receive detailed information regarding your date in early August. The children will attend the whole day. They will go to lunch, recess, and to their special class (art, gym, library, music, or computer). The kindergarten teachers will complete a variety of screening items as well.
Friday, September 5th: All children will attend a full day.
Thank you so much for registering your child with Berkshire Schools! We are very excited to have you! The Burton Campus PTO will be available during the Kindergarten Parent Meeting with information regarding the PTO, Gym Shirts and Volunteer Information. The Burton Public Library will also be available to greet the children and sign them up for a library card. Lisa Shirkey, the Director of Transportation will also be available, should you have any questions regarding transportation.
