I am a partner with the Vision Service Program in their Sight for Students Program through my membership in the National Association of School Nurses. They look to provide vision care to working families who do not have vision insurance. Every year they give me coupons to provide vision care (free exam and glasses if prescribed!) to students who meet the following criteria:
- Family income at or less than 200% of poverty level.
- Child is not enrolled in Medicaid, Healthy Start, or any other vision insurance.
- Child is 18 years or younger and has not yet graduated from high school.
- Child or parent is a US citizen or a documented immigrant with a social security number.
- Child has not used the program in the last 12 months.
If you think or know that your child is having vision problems and you think you may meet these criteria, please let me know and we can determine if this program can help. There are some terrific eye professionals in our area participating in this program! I can be reached at 834-3380 ex. 3307.
