February Board Meeting
an action packed event!

February 05, 2008
January was School Board Member Appreciation Month, and in recognition of that, students from all three schools in the district attended Monday night's February board meeting. Representatives from Burton and Troy Elementaries, along with a student representative from Berkshire High School, presented each board member with a certificate of appreciation. Each student thanked the board members for their hard work and dedication in making Berkshire a district to be proud of.
Also in attendance were students from Mrs. Starr and Mrs. Klingman's second grade class. These two teachers are currently involved in a job share situation, which has produced some dynamic activities within their room. The students presented a Reader's Theater. They took turns reading dialogue and narration from the book, A Bad Case of the Stripes. The humorous tale told of a young girl who wakes up on the first day of school covered in stripes! She becomes a huge distraction to the class as she changes colors according to shouts from the class. Eventually, she takes her medicine...LIMA BEANS, which she really loves deep down! The students were FABULOUS and it was obvious that the teachers had worked on voice expression while exploring Reader's Theater.
Finally, this year's Roots & Shoots officers described the program that is on both the Burton and Troy Campuses. They detailed the history of the program and its goals. They spoke about the wide variety of community service projects they have been involved in this year and upcoming events.
The meeting was a great chance for board members and members of the public to see the variety of activities offered within our district.
