Roots & Shoots

meets in January

by Mary Jo Maxwell

January 31, 2008

Roots & Shoots members met on January 26th in Mrs. Maxwell's kindergarten classroom.  After conducting the business portion of the meeting, the students went into the gym to complete the chosen activities for the month.  Students recycled all the paper boxes in the classrooms.  Then, they began making character bracelets.

The bracelets signify the six pillars of character:  Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.  Each pillar is represented by a different colored bead.  The beads were strung on leather cording.  The students are selling the bracelets for $2 apiece to help raise money to participate in the Relay for Life in May.
