This year, Berkshire track and cross country coaches have decided to continue their running during the winter by starting an indoor track program. Instead of going through running withdrawal, students can participate in this indoor track program, which meets every weekday after school in the main lobby.
Senior Derek Rich is one of the many dedicated indoor track members. “My favorite thing about running alone is spacing out. When I run with people, I like talking to them,” Rich said. Outside of indoor track, Rich enjoys World of Warcraft (a popular video game) and hanging out with his friends. Next year, he plans on attending the University of Akron to study mechanical engineering. He is not sure whether or not he will participate in a track program at Akron, but he said it is a possibility. What’s next for Rich? “Vote for me in 2028 for president!,” he said.
Juniors Trista and Tina Durey are also very active in indoor track. Both twins have also been involved in cheerleading since their freshman year at Berkshire High School. When asked what her favorite thing about running was, Tina said, “I love how it feels when you're finished.” Next year, both Dureys are considering enrolling in post-secondary at Kent State University. Trista is interested in accounting, and though Tina is still undecided, she hopes to pursue marketing and business. Outside of school, the twins enjoy dancing and shopping at the mall.
