Holiday Celebrations Rock the Burton Gymnasium
by Mary Jo Maxwell
December 20, 2007
Mrs. Maxwell, Miss Reedy, and Miss Trace's kindergarten class recently attended a Holiday Celebration in the Burton gym to culminate their unit on December holidays. The students were divided into small groups and rotated through a variety of stations. They were able to pin the nose on Rudolph, then count the number of points each group received. They played musical chairs, frosted and decorated Christmas cookies, and made edible dreidels out of marshmallows, peanut butter, candy kisses, and pretzels. The students also played the Dreidel game, made beaded candy canes by creating a pattern of beads on a pipe cleaner, and colored flags to recognize Kwanzaa. The students played sound bingo, where they identified a winter picture and determined what sound it began with and covered the correct letter. Their final station was to listen to a Christmas story.
A special thanks goes out to all the parents who donated items needed to make our day a success. We appreciate the support. Also, thanks to all the parents who donated time to come in and man the stations. That is a big undertaking and without your help we would not be able to do activities such as these. Happy Holidays!
