General PTO Meeting Minutes

November 13, 2007

 

Attendance:  Kim Brown, Karolyn Squire, Cindi Haycox-Wellman, Jill Trace, Elise Duwe, Shelley McDermott, Tami Topalian, Dawn Bates

 

I.                    Welcome:  Kim Brown welcomed everyone to the PTO meeting at 6:30pm

II.                 Officers’ Reports:

a.        President:  No Report

b.       Vice-president:  No Report

c.        Secretary:  No Report

d.       Treasurer:  Shelley McDermott reported:  Total Deposits which included fall fundraiser money was $20, 981.41 and total expenditures after paying out to Great Western for the Fundraiser was $12,769.40.  The total balance as of 11/12/07 is $11,769.40. 

e.        Principal:  Cindy Ducca was not present.

f.         Teacher Representative:  Not present

III.              Special Committee Reports:

a.       Fundraising:  Shelley McDermott reported that the total sales for this years fall fundraiser was $22,468 in which we received 40% of the sale of all magazines and 50% of the sale of all other merchandise.  Mrs. Chase’s class was the top selling class for the year.                               

b.      Snowflake Shop will be December 10 through the 14th.  Shelley and Karolyn have started purchasing items for the shop and will be similar in prices to last year. 

c.       Fall Harvest/Chili Cook-off:  The event was a success and PTO will donate $100 to the high school interact club for their help.  PTO also thanked Elise Duwe for the Blue Canyon gift card that was awarded to the Chili Cook Off winner.

d.      Teacher Appreciation dinners will be prepared again for conferences and Kim Brown will enlist volunteers. 

e.       Campus Clean-up Days:  Karolyn Squires reported that the clean up was done last weekend and was a success.

f.        Assembly:  Kim Brown reported that the N.E.D. Show assembly will be held November 19th.  Another assembly, The Mad Puppets, is scheduled for March 11, 2008.

V.                 New Business

a.       Classroom Holiday Elves:  (Adopt-a-Family).  PTO will sponsor one family per grade level with a designated coordinator for each class. Jill Trace made a motion to donate $50.00 gift certificate for each family for Giant Eagle to help out with a holiday meal which was seconded by Kim Brown and passed unanimously. 

b.      Lake County Captains Reading Program has been set up for 2008 to start in January. 

c.       Discussion of new meeting day starting in January:  Kim Brown announced conflicts with the current meeting schedule and opened up a discussion for a new meeting time and place.  Item is tabled pending further discussion.

 

VI.              Open Floor

a.        Cindi Haycox-Wellman reported that Burton Congregational Preschool is under-enrolled this year and will help pay costs for five 4 year olds that could otherwise not afford to attend.  Two spots have been claim but they are looking for 3 more children.  If anyone knows of anyone please let her know and she will pass the name along.

VII.           Adjournment:
