General PTO Meeting Minutes

October 16, 2007

 

Attendance:  Kim Brown, Karolyn Squire, Cindi Haycox, Cindy Ducca, Conny Tidwell, Elise Duwe, Amy Vinecourt, Shelley McDermott, Tami Topalian

 

I.                    Welcome:  Kim Brown welcomed everyone at 6:43pm.

II.                 Officers’ Reports:

a.        President:  Kim Brown thanked everyone for helping the Cosi Assembly.  She also reported we raised $400 for free books through a Market Day promotion.

b.       Vice-president:  No Report

c.        Secretary:  No Report

d.       Treasurer:  Shelley McDermott reported deposits made from 9-19-07 through 10-16-07 were $2,630.70 and Expenditures were $1,220.79.  The account balance at this time is $3,676.57.

e.        Principal:  Cindy Ducca thanked the PTO for Cosi and said the kids really enjoyed the program.  Kindergarten want on a walking field trip to the fire department and the 2nd graders went on a walking field trip to Century Village.  The 3rd grade will be attending Porter Science Center.  The 5th graders will be participating in the D.A.R.E program and the 6th grader will be participating in All Stars. The school is in the process of using swipe card for lunches and seems to be going well.  The Harvest Party parade will be from 2pm to 2:15pm and with class parties following until 3pm.  She also reported receiving a thank you for the fund raiser done for the Therapeutic Riding Center.

f.         Teacher Representative:  Not present

III.              Special Committee Reports:

a.       Fundraising:  Shelley McDermott reported that the pickup for the fall fundraiser items if Monday, October 22, 2007 form 4:30p to 6:30pm.  The school will received a new digital camera as a bonus.  Participant prizes will be award after money is sent in full.

b.      Fall Harvest/Chili Cook-off:  Everything is ready to go but still need volunteers to work the games.  We currently have 15 but need approximately 60.  The carnival games were built by Mr. Peters and used for After Prom last year.  We will also have a jump house outside weather permitting.  Renee Walker will coordinate the Chili Cook Off.

c.       Campus Clean-up:  Karolyn Squire reported this event has been postponed until a later date due to the warm weather.

d.      Young Authors:  Needed to allocate funds, Karolyn motioned to allocate $750.00 and it was seconded by Amy Vinecourt.

e.       Assembly:  November 19, 2007 at 9:15am the N.E.D. show will come to BE and is a free assembly.

 

IV.              Old Business

a.        none

 

V.                 New Business

a.       Snowflake Shop Work Days:  Tabled until next month.

b.      Mega Book Sale:  Cindi Haycox will coordinate but this year will be a slightly different format.  It will not be as large as years past and will only contain books left over from this year’s sales.

 

VI.              Open Floor

a.       none. 

 

VII.           Adjournment:
