Good Thanksgiving to You!

November 20, 2007
In a culminating activity to end their unit on Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims, the students in Mrs. Maxwell's kindergarten class created pilgrim hats to take home for their Thanksgiving holiday. The students spent the past two weeks learning about the Mayflower and the trip to the New World. They read about Plimouth Plantation and heard about what life was like for Pilgrim boys and girls. They learned that a Pilgrim is a person who travels to another country for religious reasons. The students saw a video on Thanksgiving that described why and how it was celebrated. They made Turkey Gobblers and practiced their Ts and Gs. The class created a book about what they are thankful for, which will be shared with each family upon their return from vacation. Mrs. Maxwell's class wishes you a "a good Thanksgiving" in the tradition of the pilgrims!
