Veterans Honored At Troy

Troy Elementary honored our veterans at its annual Veteran's Day assembly. Veterans from the community arrived for the ceremony, some dressed in military attire, and enjoyed coffee, donuts, cookies, and refreshments.
They then took their seats and were honored as a group and individually. Directed by Mr. Kostiha and Mr. Gardner, the sixth grade students led the assembly in saying the Pledge Of Allegiance, singing the National Anthem, performing patriotic readings, honoring the veterans individually, as well as performing "Taps" in a beautiful quintet during the retiring of the colors. A slide show honoring those that have served in all wars from the Revolutionary War to the current conflicts overseas was also shown and many veterans could not hold back tears. The local Color Guard also displayed the Flag with grace, dignity, and reverence. Thank you to all who participated and those that attended. Thank you also to Mrs. Laughlin who helped prepare the musical part of the program. We truly owe our men and women who serve and have served a great deal of gratitude.
