Students Get Riled Up for the Homecoming Game

Thursday Pep rally got students fired up for Friday night

October 18, 2007

This past weekend was a big one in Badger country. To raise the student’s spirit, there was a pep rally to honor the soccer players, the cross country teams, and homecoming court and attendants. Jessica Sounik and Katie Horvath introduced the candidates. Freshman attendants were Marie Corrigan and Nick Coleman. Sophomore attendants were Leita and Josh Hess. Megan Fisher and Luke Malensek were the junior attendants. Queen candidates were Cindy Clark, Miranda Carver, Gudrun Updegraff, Liz Hess, and Claire Markwardt. The king candidates were Derek Rich, Andy Matlock, Justin Peel, Joe Zagara, and Oliver Tiber.

As the crowd filled up the bleachers, the band played and the cheerleaders cheered on our Badger football team.

After the soccer team cleared the floor, the cheerleaders spirited on to do a performance along with crowd cheers and band dances. The football players were introduced after the cheerleaders cleared the floor. As they stepped onto the floor the energy seemed to rise in excitement and anticipation to win the next night’s game.

Disappointedly, we did not. Even though our football team was shut out against Kirtland on Friday night, the Badger crowd was still cheering them on. Another pep rally is scheduled for Friday October 26th for spirit week.
