Matt M

Ledgemont Elementary Teacher Matt Morbeto was recently awarded the title of Geauga County Innovative Teacher of the Year, by the Geauga County Educational Services Center. This award signifies the passion Mr. Morbeto demonstrates on a regular basis, to encourage his students to dig deeper into curriculum, think critically about solving problems and to write with conviction.  As a five year veteran math and language arts teacher, Mr. Morbeto has developed a cadre or innovative learning methods that were taken into consideration for this award. One such lesson was his “Get a Life,” program that encouraged students to properly budget and prepare for important financial decisions in the future. These creative learning approaches have also made a noticeable impact in student test scores as well. The honor of being named Geauga County Innovative Teacher of the Year comes with a $1500.00 stipend provided by Kinetico to further professional development. He was recently presented with these honors and awards at the Auburn Career Center restaurant. On behalf of the Berkshire Local Schools, congratulations to Ledgemont Elementary Teacher Matt Morbeto for being named this year’s Innovative Teacher of the Year.
