Students at all grade levels at Ledgemont Elementary School are in the midst of a variety of literacy activities during the week beginning on March 4, 2019, to officially commemorate Write-to-Read Week. During this particular week, also known as Dr. Seuss Week, students delightfully participated in various attires on different days such as “Crazy Sock Day,” and “ Wear Your Favorite Hat day.” On “Exercise Your Mind Day,” students were encouraged to wear their favorite sports gear and clothing. Local author Caitlin Ambrose came to read and speak to students during the week. Evening activities also took place so that students could return to the building with their families. Superintendent John Stoddard also visited all buildings this week to promote Write-to-Read week as well. Enhancing literacy is a top priority in the Berkshire Local Schools, and blending this most important skill with fun and creative activities or speakers helped to solidify the importance for students. Thank you to everyone who participated in Write-to-Read Week.
