Geauga Preschool, Housed at Ledgemont Elementary, Awarded $15,000 Grant

Preschool Program Receives Grant

The Geauga Preschool program, a unit of which is housed at Ledgemont Elementary School, was recently awarded a $15,000 to develop and implement an art therapy program for the 2018-2019 School Year. In collaboration with A Kid at Art for the Heart, preschool students will participate in a 15-week art therapy program which will help them to identify emotions and engage in self-regulating exercises. In addition, a very special Art Bus, converted from an old school bus, will visit the Ledgemont campus so that preschool students can board it and perform various art therapy tasks which are housed inside. The art bus will visit Ledgemont on Wednesdays throughout the duration of the program between 2:50 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Exposing students at the youngest ages to the arts is all part of the Berkshire Local Schools’ deliberate educational emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math skills.  Special thanks goes out to the A Kid at Art for the Heart program along with the Early Childhood Education program at the Geauga County Educational Service Center. Enjoy these dynamic, self-exploratory artist opportunities.
