LE scores great weather with the Tribe tribe

On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, Miss Svigel’s third graders at Ledgemont Elementary went to the corner of Carnegie and Ontario in downtown Cleveland to participate in weather day.  They watched Channel 3 WKYC Betsy Kling, Hollie Strano, and Michael Estime give weather-related explanations through activities that connect to baseball.

They taught students about molecules, states of matter, trajectory and severe weather.  They also did a density experiment and a low pressure demo with marshmallows allowing students to see science in action. The Ledgemont Elementary PTC sponsored this exciting third grade field trip to Cleveland.

After the weather day presentation, LE got a mini tour of the stadium, visiting the bullpen, the dugouts, and the FOX Sports Ohio tent. Students got to stay and watch the Cleveland Indians play the Tampa Bay Rays at Progressive Field. Relief pitcher Dan Otero waved to students up in the stands and they were even on the Jumbo Tron!

From the seats along the first base line,  LE watched the game and was there to witness Zimmer’s first career hit.  Even though the Tribe lost 7-4, they still had an amazing field trip, one they will never, ever forget!
