Looking for students in 7/8th Grade: Power of the Pen potp

Established in 1989 and since grown to include over 80 counties in Ohio, the program is designed for seventh and eighth grade students and consists of three competitions: The District competition will be in January or February, the Regional competition in March or April, and the State competition will be held in May over Memorial weekend. In each competition, students are presented with writing prompts - a sentence or two designed to inspire a story. Students write until their story is finished or until the clock runs out. Their pieces are given to a panel of judges, who will look not at grammar, spelling or other technicalities, but at the quality of the story and expression, and how it transports the reader into a new world.

General Information

Berkshire High School's 2017 Commencement Ceremony is on Wednesday, May 31 in the large gymnasium.  Doors will open for seating for the event at 6 p.m. and there are no tickets or reserved seats except for graduates, faculty, and ushers.  The ceremony lasts roughly an hour and is followed by a balloon launch on the front lawn (weather permitting).

Picture order forms are handed out to each senior at their exit interview the week before graduation. All obligations must be taken care of with the school in order to participate in the ceremony.

Students who are giving speeches at the event should plan on staying after the large group rehearsal to practice delivery.

LE Preschoolers Learn the Ropes lunch

As the school year begins to wind down, it is time to help our students transition to the next phase in their education. Talking to our students about the next steps and familiarizing them with upcoming situations always eases anxiety and prepares them for the start of a new year.  A huge thank you to LE fifth graders who took the preschoolers under their wing last week! Preschoolers were able to join the fifth graders for the full lunch experience in preparation for entering kindergarten next year. Students were able to get comfortable with ordering lunch choices, selecting food items in the line and understanding the whole process with a peer buddy or two to help them along the way. Preschoolers really enjoyed spending lunch with their older peers and the fifth graders loved having someone look up to their leadership! Great teamwork, Badgers!
